A Life Fulfilled Key ‘E’ They met at church on Sunday – their eyes told them this was the one He proposed to her on Monday – but she was promised to the butcher’s son The war was raging in Europe – he’d just home on leave He was off again in a week or two – so a short honeymoon would have to do A little girl was born to him while he was away at the war He came home 5 years on – to pick up where he’d left off They moved from town to town so he could find work And settled in the goldfields - and drove a truck for the council clerk Over the years the family grew – 8 children all in all But they worked hard, and built a life – making sure no one would fall They built a life of love and faith where their children all felt safe A place where they would always be listened Somewhere to call home through life’s raging storms Where fun and laughter always seemed the norm It wasn’t long before the children – had children of their own And they would come to grammas – as her cooking was well known They’d all try and sit on grandpas knee – to hear the stories that he told To look at them, quiet & still– was a sight to behold As the years went on they both grew old – sitting down holding hands But the spark in their eyes never dimed – they fulfilled all their plan LEAD – As Verse As the years went on they both grew old – sitting down holding hands But the spark in their eyes never dimed – That was my mum and dad © John J. Callaghan; 25th May 2012

Down & Out Cowboy – Key ‘D’ I’m back on the road – just watchin the trucks go by Another rodeo’s gone – and I didn’t win Well I guess it doesn’t matter - ‘cause it happens all the time When your lucks run out – and your moneys gone again And you can see no end in sight – to that long and lonely road It’s tough being a down and out cowboy I drew the biggest bull – that you have ever seen He was tough - God he was mean He beat me this time A cowboy never gives in to any Brahman bull I’m gonna ride him again This time I will win CHOUS lead break - as verse X 2 I told my girl, I’ll be back - just as soon as I could Lady luck just grinned left me with my thumb in the wind Chorus – X 2 (Revised version - ©John J.Callaghan 13th January 2008 )

This Day Would Come Key ‘D’ The day we meet I remember well – on your picture I still dwell In you’re long black coat and you’re captive smile You caught my eye, for a long, long while You’re perfume smelt oh so sweet And you’re hair flowed down you’re back so neat My mind was racing – how do we meet When you said hello - my heart - skipped a beat Who would have thought - We’d be standing here Exchanging vows for all to hear Our love has bought us to this place Like a gentle breeze on a clear blue day I’ve had my share of doubts in life Which way to turn to the left or right But through it all I’ve known one thing That this day would come and you’d – wear my ring We had our trials – aint that the truth – But nothing can separate me from you You are my love – my strength portrayed Like the stars above in the milky way Now as the days they turn to years There’ll be laughter and some tears Through storms and rain – the sun will shine I’ll be yours and you’ll - be mine LEAD -CHORUS – PLUS © John J. That’s Alright With Me (Capo 3rd Fret – Key ‘D’) CHORUS It’s a long long road and its ahead of me – It goes on and on as far as I can see Don’t know where I’m goin or where I might be But I’ll stay on this road for now It’ll take me home – I just don’t know how And that’s alright with me - And that’s alright with me It seems I’ve been travellin for oh so long – I just don’t know where I belong I’ve seen every town and city in this great land Maybe someday I’ll find a place – I can call my own – have a little space But until then I’ll move along And that’s alright with me - And that’s alright with me Chorus I know one day I’ll find a wife – I’ll settle down and stay out of strife Buy a little house – we can call our own Wake up every morning in the same old place – See the sun rise and a beautiful face And that’s alright with me - And that’s alright with me Lead break Chorus X 2 © John J. A Mother Just like You Key 'D' There's quiet breathing in the night - everyone's asleep The only noise from outside is the wind in the trees Then the sound of a baby cry's and mother is awake So lovingly tendering - to its every need Our first day at school was o so hard - but you wiped away the tears On sports day we'd run and run - and we could hear you cheer Win or lose it mattered not to you - cause that's the way you are You were there when we were babes - in your arms and as we grew You'd send us all off to school - with a kiss and "I love You" Whenever we would cry - you were there for that too Oh where in the world would we find a mother just like you We will grow and leave our home - its time to spread our wings Find a way to make it on our own - but we'll come back again Your words of wisdom we'll always cherish And then there's a home cooked meal You were there when we were babes - in your arms and as we grew You'd send us all off to school - with a kiss and "I love You" Whenever we would cry - you were there for that too Oh where in the world would we find a mother just like you Mid 8: When I get married and settle down - There's one thing I'd like to do I want my kids to know and have - A mother just like you Lead Chorus + When I get married and settle down - There's one thing I'd like to do I want my kids to know and have - A mother just like you I want my kids to know and have - A mother just like you (Words and Music By: - John J Callaghan)

Hey G'Day 03:57
Hey G’Day (C5 – G: Play Key ‘G’) I flue over this land of ours, a few days ago I couldn’t help but notice, all the white & brown below I thought back to a time, when people first set out To explore and to settle, this land that’s prone to drought No roads or maps to guide them - they set off anyway No knowledge of what lay ahead and danger on the way Some went by horse, some by cart, others, they just walked Hoping for a better life, than the one they had left behind They did not just fly around They saw the beauty that abounds They taught their children to appreciate This great land and all its space They all lived …..from day to day And they’d say to a stranger hey G’day Many perished along the way, some went back, others stayed Some went looking and gold was found, Farms sprang all around They went to war and back again; they stood up ….and made a stand They gave each other a helping hand - and worked to build this land We’ve come so far down the track, IS IT TIME…. to pull back The years have passed and I wonder…have we lost our way? It’s time to stop and look around, maybe time ……to slow down Stop the plunder of our land, …was this part of the master plan? Let us not just fly around Lets see the beauty that abounds Lets teach our children to appreciate This great land and all its space Don’t take for granted what we have today And say to a stranger (hey G’day) LEAD Let us not just fly around Lets see the beauty that abounds Lets teach our children to appreciate This great land and all its space Don’t take for granted what we have today And say to a stranger (hey G’day) Don’t take for granted what we have today And say to a stranger (hey G’day) And say to a stranger (hey G’day) Yeah say to a stranger (hey G’day)  John J Callaghan (23 March 2007) (amended 6 May 2012)

The Outback 04:07
The Outback (Key ‘G’ It was late in the after noon & I’d been drivin all day Dust filled my car for nearly most of the way A big green sign said a rest stop, up on the road a ways A long cool drink and a friendly face, would help me see out this day I walked in the bar – content to sit for a while “Sit down here mate” an old man said with a smile Where are you from my boy, the city’s no place for me But let me tell you something for free, there’s nothing like it in the city Have you ever seen the sky so blue – and all this open space Have you ever seen a dust storm rage or the rain when this drought breaks Have you ever seen the stars so bright – as you look up in the night? Oh I wouldn’t trade my life up here – where a man can find his place He said I seen a lot of people coming through here Most are running – they just stop for a beer They barely say a word to us – they just seem to file off the bus But you miss so much when you’re in a rush – and life will pass you by LEAD AS PER VERSE He put down his drink and thought for such a long while He spoke of the bush, the fires and floods he’d seen The lady who wouldn’t stay – the kids who just went away He staring at the floor and said no more but I hear his words everyday CHORUS Last line twice © John J. Callaghan 2nd January 2008 (Australian Control)

Walking sticks & broken hips Key ‘D’ I wake up every morning, try and get out of bed My bones are aching, there’s a crink in my neck I know I’m not as young as I used to be But Country music is alright with me We’ve worked hard now its time to play Spending our money to our kids dismay For all us baby boomers approaching middle age We still like to rock and dance the night away Now its walking sticks & broken hips, gophers and rattle’y teeth We stopped dancing hours ago, but forgot to tell our feet We’ll stay up till the songs run out, or until we fall in a heap Just cover me with a blanket, if I should fall asleep Young people today think they’ve got it made Their fancy toys and their clothes all frayed Touch phones, iPads, tablets ’oh boy’ And anything thing else that makes a noise But we are in the prime of our life, Sometimes we do get in to strife But we’ll kick back, push it aside As life goes on, we’ll take it in our stride CHOURS - LEAD – CHORUS © John J Callaghan & Louanne M Callaghan. Forever Doesn’t Really Mean Forever Key ‘E’ I took your photograph out of my wallet today As I turned it over I read the words you said You said thank you for being so kind And loving me all of the time, And I will always love you, Forever till the end of time Something happened, we just that we grew apart Why didn’t I see the sign & your bleeding heart Doing things my own way Did I help to push you away but I will always love you, Forever till the end of time Forever doesn’t really mean forever It means until we find somebody new I sorry that we grew apart, is there room for a brand new start Cause forever doesn’t really mean forever It means until we find somebody new I remember you said, WHAT we had was special It made you feel - safe and secure What happened along the way What stopped us from saying I will always love you, Forever till the end of time Chorus – Lead - Chorus + It means until we find somebody new And darling that someone could be you  John J Callaghan 7 July 2011

Spread a little Sunshine Key “D’ I can still recall, what a my daddy said to me Way back when I used - to sit upon his knee He’d call me to his side, just as the sun went down With a smile in his eye – he’d say to me real proud Be kind to the old folks – give‘em lots of love Tell your children stories from the bible Keep that dream within your hear t- And never let it go And spread a little sunshine – with a smile Well I left home when I had just turned 21 With a song in my heart – I followed the sun I went from place to place – tryin to find a trace Of what my daddy told me – while keepin with the pace But after we had traveled – half way round the world Seeing all the types of people – from London to Napel I came to realize – no matter where you go People’s needs are still the same - So hear these words and so Chorus Today when my children – ask for my advise I sit them down quietly – and tell them with a smile Chorus © John J. Callaghan 14/03/1989

about

'This Day Would Come' has many connotations and may mean different things to different people. To me however, it has three main meanings:
1. It is the song I wrote and sang for my wife Louanne on our wedding day,
2. It is the end of many years of writing, playing, practicing and road testing my new songs for an album that I hoped to put together one day, waiting for the right time, and
3. i want you to think about what you may have been dreaming of, praying about or hoping would one day come to pass. You are now another day closer to realizing your dream, just keep persisting and pursuing your dream and you too will one day say to yourself and others, i knew that 'This Day Would Come'
